Water and stone
It was a beautiful day here in the Atlanta area. We left Jason preparing for a class tomorrow and doing a bit of shopping for the evening meal, and Jen Roger and I went out to enjoy the sunshine. First, we went for a hike along the beautiful Chattahoochee river ( top two photos), then we joined a guided tour of Norcross with the Atlanta Preservation society, finishing up with an ice cream from a fairly recently opened ice cream parlour. After Norcross, Jen took us to Arabia Mountain, one of three granite monadnocks to the east of Atlanta. It was just a fairly short gentle climb to the summit area, which is dotted with vernal ponds as shown in my photo. Parts of the mountain were previously quarried before being turned over to the DeKalb county park system. As we were coming back down, we saw a number of people going up, dressed rather smartly for walking/hiking -:I was surmising it may have been a wedding party!
