May Queen

Under an 'amber' alert for for rain, and it rained all day, but we seem to have got off very lightly compared with many other areas. Storm Babet has brought flooding to great swathes of Scotland, and some areas of England too. Rivers high, and some roads like rivers, but that seems to be about it in these parts.

A day for inside jobs! Sorted out the curtain rails above the front door in the living room and the French windows in the kitchen. Whoever put them up failed to remove the plastic wrapping!

The curtains for the kitchen are ready to hang tomorrow. The fabric for  the curtain at the living-room door was due for delivery today before 1.00pm. I looked out for it, as delivery drivers here seem to have a habit of flinging parcels at the front door and leaving them! Watched its journey on the delivery company's app, as the driver zigzagged through the area where we live, taking the most illogical routes. One o'clock came and went, the eta changed several times, and by 4.30pm tracking app could find "no trace of your package". Eh?! Phoned the company to be told that "it's too late now, it will be delivered on Monday"...

This lady, the May Queen, is on the wall by the front door together with her consort, the Green Man. They're around 25 years old, and have come with me through four house moves.
