Coming up for air

These Mallards were mating rather aggressively at Leighton Moss this morning.  The male grasped the females neck and completely submerged her for several seconds. This picture shows her resurfacing after her ducking.
The extra is a poor quality picture but shows a remarkable encounter when a Marsh Harrier attacked a Grey Heron.  That's a pretty ambitious Marsh Harrier!
