Edlingham Castle…
… What it says on the tin.
The place was built as a home in 1300, but given the unrest at that time many homes were fortified. And eventually (mid 1300s I believe) this was fortified enough to be known as a castle.
There’s a very sweet church nearby which is mid 14th Century (though there may have been a church on the spot since 840AD).
The church is full of information.
Apparently the castle is ‘extremely’ haunted.
There is a photo in the church of castle which has a blurry ‘something’ in the bottom ‘window’, as seen above. I have looked at all my images and see nothing ‘odd’. In fact, I felt the place to be very peaceful, but I did speak nicely with it’s guardian animal on the way in!
