Starfish & rantings!!!

In all the years that I've been playing on Portobello Beach, I have never, ever, seen any starfish there. Today there were hundreds of them washed up on the beach and hundreds of big shells and there was a lot of sand on part of the prom. Ann says all these things must have been washed up by Storm Babet. Anyway I'm not interested in starfish or shells. I'm just interested in playing with my ball so that is what I did.

This morning I went to the vets for my 6 monthly check-up. I LOVE going to the vets because everyone makes a fuss of me and I get treats.

However, ever since our original vet retired, Ann hasn't really been too happy with them. I never see the same person twice and sometimes they are closed due to lack of staff, so Ann has to go to one of their other branches to pick up my flea/tick tablets.

Today we saw yet another vet that we've never met before. He thought I was the most gorgeous little Collie pup ever and he gave me treats. That was after he'd told Ann that I was overweight and that she had to cut down on my treats/food and give me more exercise. Seriously?!.................

Obviously Ann gets a bit defensive when told stuff like that. Today I weighed 14.7kg. A year ago I weighed 14.6kg. It's hardly like I've doubled my weight in a year is it? (And tbh, Ann doesn't really trust the scales anyway. Sometimes I'm wriggling around so don't always sit nicely. It's got to make a difference doesn't it?) As for exercise.............. I get more exercise than any other doggie I know. And as for my food intake................... a dog my size should get about 240g of dry food a day. I usually only get 210g and 90% of the time I don't even eat all that. I don't get many treats either. I get two weeny, teeny little bits of toast when Ann has her breakfast and I get two doggie biscuits whenever I get left home alone. That's it!  Oh, and sometimes I get carrots, but carrots are healthy treats. Right? It's not like Ann is buying me doggie muffins and doggie ice-cream every day!!!

Nothing like making a dog owner feel inferior is there?  Fortunately my human is quite a confident person and as long as she thinks I'm happy & healthy, then she says there's nothing to worry about.  Don't think we need to jump on the mental health bandwagon and sign up for doggie counselling yet!!!

Ann is a bit concerned about the state of my teeth. She thinks I'm starting to get quite bad tartar. The vet said there was nothing to be concerned about and I didn't have bad tartar.................. I just have a little bit of staining. Mmmmmmm.................. Ann's not convinced about that one!

Also (while Ann's having a bit of a RANT), the vet was foreign. This honestly isn't a racist comment (Ann really doesn't care what nationality our vet is, as long as they're competent) but she felt she was having to ask him to repeat everything he said, because his English wasn't that great. She also felt he spent a lot of time keying stuff into the computer instead of actually talking to us.

The other thing that Ann wanted him to do...................... was cut out all the matted bits on the fur beside my tail. I had this done in April (by a very nice vet & nurse) and it cost Ann £27.91. I get a bit angry if Ann tries to do this herself. She can do my tail, but the bits either side of my tail are a no go area. Anyway, the vet said he was too busy to do it today and I would have to make another appointment, which Ann duly did for tomorrow morning. This was after he said, 'Do you not take her to a groomer?' Duh?...................... who takes a Collie dog to a groomer? We're rufty, tufty dogs. And also a groomer would cost £40-£50 and Ann doesn't even pay that much to get her own hair cut. Lol!

OK rant over.

It feels cold tonight so we've got all the heating on. Our weather app is showing rain for the rest of our life. Having said that; our weather app often lies.

Lots of 'soaps' to watch tonight.

Happy Monday evening Blippers. xx
