2 more bite the dust.....

Two thriving businesses in leasehold properties find the landlord (who lives abroad) has decided to sell the freehold to a property developer who builds retirement flats. The businesses were forced to move away from the area in order to find new suitable premises, taking with them employment opportunities, and in the case of one of the businesses, enormous prestige for the town. The hoardings went up a week or so ago and now the demolition notice has been added.
The site is next to another block of retirement flats, built about 10 years ago, (and replaced a lampshade manufacturers) and part of this block can be seen on the left hand side, The planned new site is nearer the main road, by a roundabout, next to a railway station, where the trains 'park' overnight, and their diesel engines keep running the whole time. An ideal spot for offices and manufacturing units, but not, I would have thought, for retirement flats.
A sad day today.
