On Tuesday hundreds of thousands of people were sitting down watching a television programme when suddenly their screens froze. It wasn't the electricity supply nor a transmitter failure nor a journalists' strike, simply that the government decided to close down the Greek equivalent of the BBC.
Yesterday, in an attempt to prevent protests at next week's G8 summit, London police moved on G8 activists and arrested 57 of them.
Today, after sending armed police to disperse Turkish citizens gathered in Taksim Square in Istanbul, the Turkish Prime Minister said, "We cannot wait any more because Gezi Park does not belong to occupying forces but to the people."
