WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

A Sorting Out Day

I didn’t know what to do with myself this morning so I had a gander in the spare room where I keep sewing and crafty stuff. I had a look through the little drawers and ended up throwing loads of old stuff out, crafty magazines, old patterns etc. I came across photos of my bag making days back in 2009 - 2013 in Scotland. I used to sell the bags at craft fairs and two local art centres - Gracefield and Catstrand and a couple of other shops further afield. I also made bags to order if someone wanted a bag to match up with an outfit or have a special design appliqued on it. The extra shows my stand at a craft fair - can you spot a certain person?
I enjoyed that time although it did take over my life! I retired from my nursing job where I worked 3 days a week but ended up sewing bags 7 days a week!
Eventually it was too much and I decided to stop making bags.
After that I was just retired and could enjoy being creative for myself instead of constantly having to build up a stock to sell. I did make a profit on the bags but never enough to cover the hours I spent on each one.

Now I rarely sew and that’s why I want to pass on some of the fabrics and embellishments I have, so they will be the next things to sort out.
Of course I’ll keep anything special in case the girls fancy being creative in the future.
So that’s been my day up to now.
I’m going to read my book for a while and may drop off on the sofa ;-)
Hope you’re all having a good day :-)X
