Tsukimi
It was our last evening walk in the field this eve - it's already dusk at 6 when we arrive and dark when we leave. With the clocks going back tonight it will be totally dark next week! On the way home I saw the full moon and realised I hadn't blipped my last Japanese box of goodies which was about celebrating Tsukimi. This is the tradition of viewing and embracing the serene beauty of the Autumn moon. Friends and families come together to honor the changing seasons and reflect upon life's fleeting moments. The rabbit features strongly due to the folktale Tsuki no Ugasi or Moon Rabbit. The rabbit was going to sacrifice itself to feed an elderly man suffering from hunger. The man turned out to be Sakra, the ruler of gods and he was so touched by the rabbits act of compassion that he took him to the moon with him and immortalised the rabbits image as a symbol of enduring kindness and selflessness. If only there were more people like the rabbit in the worlds current state.
Anyway - now I have photographed all the delicious goodies I shall eat them! Another box will be arriving soon as I get one once a month!
