Colour pop!

The colours are starting to pop!
A much better day today, quite benign and warm with a bot of brightness. We made the right decision last night not going Fountains Abbey as later into the evening it rained really heavily continuing into the night.

So a lovely surprise when I opened the bedroom curtains this morning after several days of barely being able to even see the trees of the St  Ives Estate woods, not only were they clear this morning but the autumn colours almost glowed. The Lime in the foreground garden is now almost bare of its leaves.

The trees in the back garden have coloured and started to drop all of a sudden - extra. I spent a bit of time raking up the Magnolia leaves. Lots more to come,  hardly any of the oak leaves have started to fall yet. We’ve got some new garden waste bags but they are bigger than I expected so we have to be careful not to overfill them or we won’t be able to lift them!

We hear that another storm is on its way later in the week, Storm Ciaran, I’m assuming it starts with a C as the last one was Babet. That will blow some leaves away but I hope it doesn’t add to the woes of those already suffering from flooding.
I put some washing out but it has largely just hung though the towels now have a nice fresh smell.
Quite a ‘doing’ day, Chris has made bread and the Christmas cake and I’ve been making a lasagne for Alex coming to tea later, a change from a roast. The cake is making the house smell lovely.

Won’t be long before it’s dark, clocks went back last night as British summer time ended which resulted in Chris getting up at 5.30! We really are heading to winter now!
