Welcome pole

A short stroll down to the beach at the bay. This is one of the pair of poles that welcomes people who arrive at the beach by water. If only we were all so welcoming of people who come to our communities from different places. Someone has added a little woven cedar basket containing natural objects and a maple leaf. The poles were carved by Cowichan Master Carver Harold Joe and unveiled on August 22, 2016. I know Harold and was present at the unveiling, a wonderful day that I remember well.
