We were picked up early and headed north.  Our first stop Newgrange which is an ancient burial mound was built during the Neolithic Period, around 3200 BC, making it older than Stonehenge and the Egyptian Pyramids. The entrance (in extra) , a very tiny passage, aligns perfectly with the Winter Solstice and the entire inner hallway lights up.  How did they do that?

We then went on to Slane Castle and an old Monastery ruins with a cemetery that had an amazing number of large old Celtic crosses in very good condition. From there it was on to Belfast to the very loveliest of our hotels.

The other extra is just some of the countryside surrounding Newgrange.
