304/365. Gloucestershire Scenery
I went off for a walk with Stratford Ramblers this morning picking up Ken along the way from nearby Wimpstone hamlet.
We started off from Mickleton Church and headed across fields climbing to Bakers Hill Wood. After following the path through the wood we came out on to open farmland taking us into a holly tree orchard and then to Hidcote Boyce where we stopped for a break by the horse trough that is continually being fed by spring water from up above the village.
Afterwards we continued on up alongside a cotswold stone wall and eventually onto a paved road leading to radio masts, the high point of the walk had now been reached.
From there it was downhill all the way to Hidcote Gardens NT property and then on reaching nearby Kiftsgate Gardens we followed the footpath across fields back to Mickleton. Approximately 5 miles. Muddy in places but the glorious views made up for that.
