Carters Steam Fair

Back blip 3/5

We got up and Jill drove us to the grounds of Carters Steam Fair, which closed this year. It's having a closing sale this weekend. Though we never got to experience the fair, Jill wanted to buy some souvenirs. We bought signs (see extras) and a few toys.

The steam fair was a classic fair with the rides operated by steam power. I didn't know that existed until we learned this fair was closing. Rides, signs, letters and more are being sold off. I hope the rides can find a new home and continue operating.

We also met my Blipfoto friend Matthew. We'd known each other for maybe around nine years because of this site, but this was the first time we got to meet. That was wonderful. He's a fun guy. Seeing his Canon mirrorless camera with the mirrorless-to-DSLR lens attachment persuaded me even further to upgrade when I am able.

After the fair, Jill drove us to Blackpool. We visited the South Pier and rode a roller coaster and other rides. The Waltzer was our favorite. That was a ride Jill learned about roughly 20 years ago and now finally got to ride. It's like a Tilt-a-Whirl but with a smaller platform and higher hills, so you whip around very fast. It was really fun.
