Taking Flight
Got up, ate a scone and headed to my mother’s. Hubby wanted to winterize the camper. My sister was meeting me so we could spruce up our mother’s house. We are cooking dinner at her house on Sunday for her visitors. As we approached her property, my cousin’s adjoining field was filled with Canadian geese. They were enjoying corn that didn’t make it into the truck. We’d been there about an hour when her doctor called. I guess our mother had inquired about having her elbow x-rayed. She struck it on her night stand last week and it still hurts. And yes, we both tried to get her to have it checked as soon as we heard about it. The doctor wanted to examine her so I took her to the appointment and for subsequent x-rays. We should get the results later today. Hubby finished his job and went in to help my sister. They ate lunch (my BIL’s homemade potato soup) before we returned. I stopped to get my mother pain cream the doctor recommended then we headed home. Our mother finally got a meal and her first cup of coffee at 2:30. We finished our cleaning task and are heading home at 5:30 pm. Not exactly how we expected to spend our day, but oh well, we are flexible. I hope your day was stable. Thanks for your visits, stars and nice compliments. Stay safe. We have another freeze warning tonight but our weekend promises to be lovely.
“Something told the wild geese
It was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden
Something whispered, "snow."
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries, luster-glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
Something cautioned, "frost."
All the sagging orchards
Steamed with amber spice
But each wild breast stiffened
At remembered ice.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly-
Summer sun was on their wings,
Winter in their cry.” - Rachel Field
