Pretty Quiet Day
We had an early text from Jamie. Someone set fire my nephew’s partially constructed new home last night. They were due to settle on it early Jan 2025. This is the second vandalism to this home since construction began. No idea why or who was involved. Such a shame that people can lower themselves to ruin other people’s property/lives. Hubby got up and headed to the ship’s meeting where they discussed the next East Coast reunion location. It will be in Buffalo NY or Jacksonville, FL. I moseyed down after breakfast and a shower in time for the auctions. Hubby and I both won two items. He was high bid for a collection of Tennessee whiskeys in the live auction. I won the wooden flag that is in the collage. For the Chinese auction, I won three bottles of Oliver wine and some honey. Hubby got a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle of the state of Michigan. Each attendee was asked to provide Navy or their state themed prizes for the auctions. We went across the street for lunch. It boasts of having the finest selection of wild game. I chose shrimp, hubby got a beef burger. We are so unadventurous. The decor was interesting as shown in the collage. On the way back to the hotel, we stopped and watched a very long motorcycle parade. There were several hundred cycles of varying sizes and configurations. Our final group event will be the banquet tonight. After all the walking and noise last night, we have chosen to simply rest in our room until time to dress for the semi formal affair. We have had fun and checked off a bucket list item (Opry) so the weekend has been successful. Wishing you a little fun time. Stay safe. “Finding some quiet time in your life, I think, is hugely important.” - Mariel Hemingway
