Out east

Yet another promising day! We left after lunch to drive to Edinburgh - we're staying with Daughter Two for the weekend. Good to see quiet roads - I suppose a lot of the tourists have gone home. The autumn colours were beautiful in the sunshine, but it's frustrating to find nowhere to stop to enjoy the view or take a picture. Bad enough for us, but it must be so annoying for the visitors who must drive on and on and eventually give up. More laybys or viewpoints required, council!

We stopped beside Loch Lubnaig for a cuppa - we always bring a flask, just in case - then drove on to Callander and down to the car park beside the River Teith. It's a lovely spot and today the town was lit up against a background of dark clouds. The church spire stood out so well! It's the former St Kessog's Church, now a Tourist Information Centre.

A final spurt down the M9 and we arrived just after 5pm.
