It was really all
about the donkeys today.
Hotel, then dinner.

We were having our breakfast at 8 AM, then I was determined to find the wild donkeys of Oatman, Arizona.

I gassed up the car just across from our hotel in Bullhead City, Arizona. Behind the station I saw a wall with old telephones, a sight rarely seen these days. On closer inspection they looked worse for wear and we doubted that they function. It was a reminder of how far we've come
with technology as we all seem to have cell phones now.

We headed off on Silver Creek Road to Oatman. The route soon turned from pavement to gravel. I knew it was about a 15 miles trip into Oatman. It was a hilly, bumpy, dusty drive. At some points I wondered if I was on the right road, but eventually we came into the little settlement and there were donkeys!

I stopped by the first house to find two lovely donkeys inside a fenced area. Obviously, these were not wild, but they sure were cute.

We drove on to find a donkey poking its head over the boardwalk, then another following some tourists.

We got ourselves on the Oatman Highway which was paved all the way to the main highway again. On this route, the donkeys like to wander and make an appeal to the passing vehicles.

We proceeded on to our hotel in Blythe, California, our last road stop for this journey. We're getting tired of unloading and loading the vehicle each day and I'm getting tired of driving!
