Testing it out.

In the early days of the Internet we all knew the meaning of
w.w.w. Now if you visit or live in South Lakeland you will soon discover that it stands for West Windermere Way.

This is an ambitious project to create a footpath down the western side of Lake Windermere. The National Park Authority is behind the plan and has collected support and funding from many quarters.

Stage 1 from Newby Bridge to Lakeside was opened earlier this year and as it was a lovely Autumn morning we got up early to give it a try.
Stage 2 is under construction and will go north from Lakeside to Finsthwaite and the Bobbin Mill. It will then go through the YHA area and in the long term should get all the way to Wray Castle.
It is an excellent path suitable for walkers and cyclists. It is good for scooters and pushchairs too.

We parked at Lakeside and walked down to the Swan Inn for coffee the back again.
My main shot shows what great views can be had from the path. My extras show the no steps bridge over the steam railway and a section near the northerh end.

A really lovely morning out.
