J had a neuropsychologist appointment this afternoon. He had been referred for a cognitive assessment about 2 years ago, and obviously his condition has altered considerably since then. Therefore I think the afternoon was pretty much a waste of time, though the Dr we saw is going to speak with the team who are caring for J and clarify which one will continue with the investigations. The joys of a condition that straddles both physical and mental health so sits with two different NHS trusts.
J’s mobility seems particularly poor at the moment, with little clear reason why it’s declined noticeably in the past couple of weeks. He’s been using his wheelchair more on the ward - which will not be possible inside the house when he’s home due to limited space. I had a quick conversation with the OT and she’s pushing the other ward staff to encourage J to use his stick so he doesn’t lose any further function unnecessarily. She’s also going to do a session with us on getting in and out of the car before he’s discharged in a weeks time.
