Flying the flag

I popped in to the Atrium this morning to check that the Christmas card stand had been returned to the café after being used in the sale on Saturday. It had, which was very helpful.

On the way out I took this photo with my phone. In the background you can see the board advertising Saturday’s sale, which will now need to be taken down. The Union flag, which looks to be a brand new one, was already in place on Saturday, and this morning was fluttering in the gentle breeze. That too will need to be taken down after Remembrance Sunday.

In a church the size of ours there are so many jobs that need doing, so it’s just as well that we are blessed with many willing workers and a new set of young interns each year. Lots of them will already be hard at work, preparing for the Christmas presentations. These are pretty elaborate affairs designed to encourage families with young children to come and experience the Christmas message in an exciting and entertaining way. They have become so popular over the years that we have to increase the number of performances to three or four on Christmas Eve and often one or two the night before as well!
