Poppies across the bridge

This bridge crosses another section of the Shubenacadie Canal. The poppies are knitted, crocheted or made from felt by local nursing home residents and their families. They are attached to netting and are stretched across the bridge the week before Remembrance Day.
Normally a service is held here at this park on Remembrance Day and another one is held at the Grand Parade in Halifax. This year the service is being combined because some of the homeless people have set up their tents at the Grand Parade square. The city and the police got such a bad reaction a couple of years ago after they forced a tent city to move from a park when neighbors complained about the noise and fighting. Now the city will not force any of the homeless people to move their tents. Normally the Grand Parade is where Halifax has their Christmas tree lighting ceremony and they have New Years Eve celebrations there. It will be interesting to see where these get moved to.
