2P = 1/2d
As seen yesterday there are several coins bearing a size similarity to the current 2P. This, however, dates back to "old Money" when Eire had the Púnt and their coins were the same size/shape as ours; so this one also probably snuck in under disguise.
Grumble alert.
It narks me, as a prospective member of the Grammar-Nazi party when "the Media" refers to "the Island of Ireland". From the dawn of history they think they are Eire; to the extent they have/had it on their coins, see photo.
Since "Northern Ireland which remained part of the United Kingdom after the partition of Ireland in 1921." - SO - you say "Ulster", you mean the North, you say Eire, you mean the South, you say Ireland you mean the RUDDY LOT because we all know Ireland is an Island?
B T W Did you recognise it from the thumbnail?
"Or a Meringue?"
