Occultation
I had read about the occultation of Venus today, but with the amount of cloud around had no expectation of seeing it. So I was amazed when the clouds parted to reveal the crescent moon, with Venus approaching it. I watched as the planet approached the moon and then disappeared behind it, and took a few photos along the way. This photo was taken at 9.41am. On average the moon is 240,000 miles from Earth, and Venus is 75 million miles away.
The extra is of something man-made, and bordering on the abstract (so hopefully kind of fits with todays challenge theme set by Ingeborg) - the new-ish multi- storey car park at Circle Square in Manchester. I had a look around the overall regeneration scheme before meeting up with a friend at the nearby Refuge on Oxford Road.
