Ostlers Cottage
This has to be one of the smallest houses ever. It's the Ostler's Cottage in Wells-Next-the-Sea. According to the notice in the window, It's a one-up, one-down, built around 1750 (although the estate agents says it's 19th Century?). It's Grade II listed. It was last occupied as a dwelling around 1935. The water pump, toilet and wash houses were in the back yard, but those have since been demolished. Sadly, there is a council carpark right up to the front door. I presume the carpark used to be where the stables were located. The Ostler would have looked after the dray horses.
I expect you all want to know how much it's up for sale for...well, it's being sold along with a cottage next door, offers upwards of £400k.
Here is the estate agent's description:
Ostler's Cottage remains as originally built - 1 up, 1 down with a small open garden to the rear, currently used for storage purposes but would make ideal attractive ancillary accommodation for the larger cottage which consists of an entrance hall, large sitting/dining room, cloakroom, conservatory and kitchen downstairs with a main bedroom, bathroom and 2 interconnecting bedrooms upstairs as well as a small courtyard garden.
The extra is the view from our lunch table (best seen in large). M and I have decided to have a 'date day' every week, even if it's just morning coffee together but today we treated ourselves to morning coffee in Wells (and some Christmas shopping). Followed by lunch at the White Horse in Brancaster. It was a truly delicious meal and we really enjoyed the ever-changing scene as the clouds and light moved across the marsh.
