Poppies
A couple of days back we searched out an old photograph of my father and his two brothers at the end of WW2. It still needs a lot of restoration but this is the photo James (our grandson) took to school to talk about following a lesson on Dunkirk.
Desmond (left side) was in the infantry and was evacuated from Dunkirk
Stan (right side) was on North Atlantic convoys. His ship was torpedoed, he was rescued by a destroyer, which then sank the U-Boat.
My father (middle) joined the RAF in the final months of the war - he did actually shoot someone while on guard duty. I can think of a few people who would benefit from hearing his comments on what went through his mind just before firing.
Thankfully, they all survived.
I've added some of the poppies from the church in the village.
