Remembering

Went across to the market and we were just coming back across the bridge when we heard the 11 am gun from the castle. Diverted down to the Merchant Seamen memorial and had a quiet minute or two thinking about our various uncles who were killed or wounded in WWI and WWII, my auntie Edith who survived WWI working in a munitions factory but died in the influenza pandemic, my pal Roger who died in Bluff Cove on the Sir Galahad in 1982, and of course Ogatodomar, who of course died in a Brussels hospital bed but had been a merchant seaman for 5 years.
