Waterville
We're off to Kerry for the archaeological festival - a long long weekend near Waterville, which is looking a bit appropriate. The forecast is interesting and a lot of the festival events are outside - kicking off with tomorrow's hike up a mountain - forecast moderate gale and a lot of rain. Thank god it's moderate! And which is worse - a moderate gale or a fresh gale? Both are on the agenda.
I have packed two extra pairs of jeans and some waterproof(ish) trousers, having actually learnt my lesson from a previous trip to area, when we found ourselves stranded on a massive beach with nowhere to run in diabolical weather. We were both absolutely drenched and I had to go into a lady's shop in Caherciveen as I had foolishly not brought any spare kecks. Mother of God, the lady cried upon seeing me and scuttled off into the depths returning with some thermal leggings! Perfect!
Hopefully things will not be quite as extreme but I can't guarantee it. Apart from an excellent talk on holy wells (!), there is also a trip to visit rock art by night, (10pm - will I still be awake?) an excursion to a drowned forest and a lot of ancient stones admired. It won't be dull. Catch you soon, I hope!
