Running late today. A nice day out in the field with Himself and Finola. We rendezvoused for coffee in Bantry then went off into the hills behind Dunmanway in search of a holy well - one I’d been alerted to by someone who came to the exhibition opening last week. It was wild rugged country but there was this sweet blue and white wellhouse and a well brimful of cold water- I can't believe I've never come across it before. 70m away is an enormous grotto - in the middle of nowhere. Delighted to find both but so far haven't been able to find out much about either though the interior of the well is painted a jolly BVM blue.. We then picked up a very glamorous gluten free Christmas cake for Finola’s family, tried to find another very obscure well, popped into a church to admire some stained glass and visited a round tower close to a church where a wedding had just taken place (congrats Aisling and Seamus).
A nice skype with the Kiwis tonight- the sun was shining and they were off to a fete over the Hill where face painting and a bouncy castle had been promised.
