Winter 'Flowers"

Tobi and Dan didn't make it to coffee this morning because a PG&E transformer blew and a tree that was supposed to be taken out by them caught fire. The fire department and PG&E showed up and the former put out the fire but the latter were still working on restoring their power this morning. She said it was a long night. There was an article in the paper this morning on how PG&E is raising their our rates with more to come.

Dan has been supplying us with CBD gummies which we take at night to sleep better. Given the fact that he is still hobbling around with a cast on his foot and that he has quite a bit on his plate already, we decided to visit the dispensary that is right behind the Trail House. It's an interesting cast of characters in there...wish I had taken pictures of some of them. After perusing quite an array of products, and with some help from the manager, we came home with a $14 bag of gummies, having been given a first time discount, an early bird discount , and some other discount I've forgotten.

There was also an article in the paper this morning about how many seniors were buying pot instead of taking pills. Most of them apparently taking it to help them sleep or for pain.

Feeling reasonably able, we decided on the way home to take Spike up the hill to his meadow. He loves it and we haven't been up there in awhile. The mushrooms in the main photo were growing off the rotting root of a fallen tree next to the trail. I practically laid on my stomach to try to get a shot of the underside which i expect was a lot more delicate than these blobs, but I couldn't really do it without picking one. I took the picture in extras because of the lovely sky and the first green shoots of winter grass glazing the open spaces. They're not exactly flowers but they're all I could find at this time of year.

It seems to have started raining quite hard,  and some neighbors are coming soon for drinks...a nice way to end the week.
