Muddy hoard
The Muddy Hoard is a collection of some 9000 Roman coins which were found buried in a field near Huntingdon. They are on display in the Norris Museum in St Ives. No one seems really to know who buried them or why. The most recent coin dates from 274.
Lurking in the background is Oliver Cromwell, who was born in Huntingdon and lived in St Ives from 1631 to 1635.
