Holiday Swag
It was tricky trying to come up with a title for this posting..The word "swag" has so many different meanings..some negative. Hopefully the photo clears up any misunderstanding...?
Today I went with friends to a Swag Making Workshop at the Pickering museum's pioneer village.
Making a Christmas swag is not really very difficult and probably doesn't warrant paying a fee to go to a workshop on it, but it was more about the fun of being with friends in a neat setting, foraging in the woods for greenery, berries, pine cones, feathers, cat-tails, or seed pods, than it was wrapping wire around some branches, adding some colour or an item of interest and topping it all off with a big bow.
It was also a nudge to get into the spirit of the season..to remind us of what Christmas was like in the old days ... when celebrating the season was so much simpler and it also provided us with a traditional outdoor Christmas decoration for our front doors, gates, or fences...one that is not plastic! ( except for the ribbon)
PS: I tried, Knottman 2, to choose a ribbon without glitter.. but that option was not available... sorry. (extra)
