Smoke Rises

We cleaned the boiler this weekend and this morning it was 12 degrees. Time to start it up! I did my usual fire starter pack, usually a fail safe but this morning it just resulted in a lot of smoke. Downdraft stronger than the up, the smoke filled the basement. Frustrated but not defeated, I let the smoke settle and tried again. This time building the fire slowly and with wood that isn’t going to offer a lot of smoke. I was never so happy to see smoke coming out of the chimney. It’s the little things …
