Barnton canal basin sunrise
A shot as the sun was creeping over the local tree lined hollow that makes up the canal basin between Saltersford and Barnton Tunnel, even this early there is usally fishermen setting up or dropping kit off out of their cars.
The tow path gets a bit muddy off to the left here and just behind us we have the road heading down to the Saltersford locks on the Navigable River Weaver section and on the other side of the locks the old river course (flood course) rejoins after running alongside the ICI (Tata) works, as kids we used to swim in this area because the water was warmer here - little did we know about all the acids, alkali and waste water streams coming from the works kept us warm no wonder mum & dad used to go mad when we got back home
