The Shard

Having got it's name because it resembles a shard of glass the Shard is Londons tallest building standing 309.6 metres tall with 87 floors.  It towers above all the surrounding older buildings from different eras when it was believed that the clay London is built on would not support such buildings - technology has now moved on and there are more and more tall buildings of astonishing design.
