Nelly Moser

A much greyer, gloomier day today.

I found our new boiler wasn’t working when I got up this morning, so texted the installer, who arrived within the hour. All sorted - teething issues.

Mid afternoon we walked around Risley Moss. Quite a lot of noise was coming from an area not accessible to the public, I thought people were trespassing. But meeting the group on the way out, and chatting to the ranger and (as it turned out) scout leader, the youngsters were practicing for a competition next weekend. They have to construct their own bivouac and sleep in it overnight at a location near Delamere. The joys of being young !

Returning home and having taken no photos, I took one of a newly opened clematis flower. It’s called Nelly Moser, a well known variety created in 1897 by the pre-eminent plant breeder Marcel Moser. It’s an April/May bloom - but looks like we’ll have one or two open for Advent.
