Quite a day
After a nice breakfast with my friend A, I headed off from North to Southeast London - something that is quite easy given the wonderful Transport for London.
The top left shot is of the street in Nunhead where my old friend F lives. We met at Sussex Uni in 1976 - then she studied in Florence for 3 years, where I was lucky to visit her several times. Then we shared a flat in Kentish Town for 5 years. We’ve always kept in touch, though life took us in different directions. We went out for a lovely leisurely Italian lunch in Lordship Lane. Then late afternoon we set off back towards Piccadilly - to go to the concert in St James church - shown top right, a beautiful building.
The concert, performed by A’s choir, was fabulous. A stunning performance of Faure’s Requiem. Followed by a setting of Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet to music. Such a contrast - hints of Notth African music, jazz, and calypso. It was interesting and unusual.
Afterwards we walked together along Piccadilly in the heavy rain towards Green Park tube. One pic is of me (on the left) and F - the other is the Christmas lights in Old Bond Street.
