It has been a busy day attending a business meeting in Gloucestershire. Finally grey skies gave way to sunshine a few minutes after I got home and that was the moment the bees had been waiting for.

There have been many reports of bee populations declining for a number of reasons (also in Australia) so it was heartening to count at least half a dozen different species making the most of the warm sun. If we all try to grow a few plants that are attractive to bees and butterflies we can go a long way towards helping their numbers increase.

Here's one helping itself to an Aquilegia.
