Cold

Everyone said what a lovely morning it was- cold and frosty with sunshine thrown in and  Morningside looking quite Christmassy as I shopped at Waitrose for a special gluten free chocolate cake mix they stock. Yes Betty Crocker, I’m not ashamed to cut corners when the results are good. It was a pity that I didn’t think it foolish to also buy 2 pints of milk and a bottle of Appletiser there and have to carry them home on my back  when I could have bought them at the local corner shop, but there you are , I won’t make that mistake again.

With a coffee stop at the Bruntsfield Costa  café, I was sad to see the premises are being re-let and the café will have to go. I don’t go there very often but it is handy if I’m shopping at Bruntsfield or been at the doctor’s. There is another one further down the road at Holy Corner but it is a step too far most of the time.

With the morning being so pleasant it was a shock to the system to be caught in a sleet shower as I went to the library this afternoon. It was prematurely dark and miserable and I scuttled back home as quickly as I could.

In the blip taken from Greyfriar’s Kirkyard, the Central Library is that tall building to the right of the middle. It reaches from the Cowgate up to GeorgeIV Bridge. It’s an enormous edifice.
