Between fen and mountains

Uprooted tree

I walked through the path to have a look at the tree that was uprooted a week or two ago. It has been dealt with now but what was surprising was  that that day was not particularly windy. There were a few strong gusts in the afternoon which were surprising but obviously sufficiently strong to bring down three large trees in the village. Maybe the fact that the trees were still in leaf had something to do with it. It rained all morning so the plan to be playing tennis when the Maire and the President of the departmental Tennis Council arrived was foiled. Instead around eight of us discussed the need to resurface one court and to knock on the head the idea of a padel court in the village. Fortunately the Maire had done some homework and realised that the padel court would be too expensive and unprofitable. On the other hand he agreed to put the resurfacing of the second court into the next budget. Everyone was delighted.
