That Will Do!

Linlithgow Loch

Friday is often Playday after a week of activities so we wrapped up warm and went to Linlithgow Loch, via an excellent coffee-and-scone stop at Mannerstons Café and Farm Shop, on the A904.

On our last visit, it was similarly freezing. Armed with a supply of 'Duck and Swan food' and mealworms we intended to support the poor chilled birds. Were they grateful? Not a bit! The swans fought amongst themselves when they could have been eating and fending off invasive gulls, they then came on the bank and fought me for more, more, more even when the bag was empty. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

A single robin was offered mealworms but flew away, so I've no idea who ate them.

But the walk was pleasant as locals always greet with a hello or good morning or point out nice, sheltered location in the sunshine.

We turned round before long and walked back to a jitty taking us to the High Street for a wander round charity shops and back to the car.

My favourite bird was the heron who posed so nicely that it wins the blip, even if the palace does rather dominate the scene.
