Marc and the donkey

Today's the day ...................... for an au revoir 

We heard the sad news today, that a very dear friend of ours had passed away.  The fact that, for some time now he has not been well, didn't make the news any easier to bear.

We have known Marc and Marie-Claire for around twenty years now and I can honestly say that all time spent in their good company has been an absolute joy.  We share so many memories of happy times in France or over here.  Not having a common language has never been a problem - we have understood each other right from the start. We have shared some wonderful meals, walked and talked - and been helpless with laughter on numerous occasions.  They have enriched our lives beyond measure.

It's very hard to think that Marc will no longer be here to share things with us.  He was often the subject of my blips - like the one above that you can find here.  He was an artistic and hugely talented sculptor - in wood and clay. 

And I shall so miss him - his thoughtfulness, his wisdom and his gentle kindness .................
