The Sparkle Jar Intervention

Today's shot is another in my windowsill series. There was just a very brief interlude of afternoon sunshine today and I just loved the light as it streamed through the window in one of our bedrooms.
The light really picked up and illuminated the lines of the jar on the right hand side of the image and the sail of the little toy yacht in the middle but it needed another element which was when I spotted another tubular shaped jar filled with pink glitter flakes from a theatrical chandlers (as you do!) and included it into the shot to give it some added sparkle.
It also brought to mind one of my favourite books that I have read over the last couple of years - the beautifully wrought coming of age memoir by the naturalist Chris Packham called Fingers in the Sparkle Jar - as one reviewer rightfully remarked "It's bold and beautiful, both raw and lyrical, and a rather special book".  If you get the opportunity please do take the chance to read it.
