GOTCHA NOW!

I spent the day at a high school wrestling tournament in Kimberly, WI.  There were 8 mats going at the same time (20 some schools were there) and featured girl/girl wrestling for the first time since I've been going to this tournament.  Girl's wrestling has really exploded in the state in the past year.  Previously, there were always a few girls out but they had to wrestle boys...and some of them were pretty good.  Now there's enough girls out for the sport that there's enough of them that they can just wrestle each other in tournaments like this one.

The girl with the yellow headgear (ear protectors) is from our local school and is the only girl on the team.  She did very well today and here she has her opponent locked in a cradle hold and shortly after this shot the opponent in white was pinned.  For those of you who are not into the sport, the object is to pin your opponent because that scores 6 points (maximum allowed) for your team.....it involves holding your opponent's shoulders flat in the mat for 2 seconds.  Harder to do than you would think.

I left early because of a gig at Road America I was responsible for, so I don't know how well the team did.  We have several very good wrestlers and after I return from RA I will check online for the team and individual scores.
