Warty or Watery
I thought the tiny raindrops on my kowhai leaves looked like warts - or those marbles with the swirl of colour through the middle. Here the colour comes from the red miniature flax that is behind this tree. It never ceases to fascinate me how the surface tension of the droplets keeps them hanging on in the most unlikely places - in this case on the very edges of upright leaves.
This is the kowhai tree that I thought was dead in the drought of summer. Fortunately nature is pretty miraculous and the rain since then has brought it back to life. It has a couple of dead branches but over all its looking strong and healthy now.
