Third Time Lucky

Joseph Long is one of Scotland’s finest concert pianists and he was due to give a recital in Dunblane cathedral only to have it cancelled because of Covid.

Then it was re-scheduled for this autumn, but it was cancelled to because of floods.

So, this afternoon in his opening remarks he said: “third time lucky” though the organisers, Dunblane cathedral Arts Guild, nervously watched the snow falling and wondered if yet again the event would have be cancelled.

Instead, it was a resounding success with a big turnout despite the weather. I think we are all so glad to get back to live events that we were not going to be put off by freezing temperatures.

Joseph Long is a professional concert pianist with over thirty years performing including at St Martin-in-the Fields London, the Moscow Conservatoire, and the Calcutta School of Music.
This afternoon he played a selection of Beethoven, Schubert, and Chopin.

I was close to the front and saw his hands in action. It was mesmerising.
