Markets, snow & Christmas on steroids
We went everywhere today. The snow fell continuously and the crunch underfoot was better than a slide.
We used the underground to reach a further way Christmas market, bought a couple of little things and tasted a few local delights. One cup of a particular mead sent our hearts racing. Everywhere we went, the aromas of cinnamon, sugar and hot wine swamped our senses. Christmas music, tinsel, Nativity scenes, baubles were in abundance.
After 4 markets in the new town and old town, by late afternoon we needed to warm up from the freezing air, so we headed into an Irish pub for a coffee, a pint and the first half of the Arsenal game. The pub was heaving. Literally.
We then headed north of the Charles Bridge again to a Vivaldi concert by a string quintet in the Lichtenstein ‘palace’. It was short, beautiful and by ‘fluke’, we had comfy seats and a fab view despite being the back row & cheapest tickets.
More markets, more snow, more food and hot drink tasting, and all in all, an amazing day. Some of it really surreal. Lots of it really beautiful. I’ll add some extras.
