Candlesnuff Fungus and Berry

A relaxing morning with a pre-lunch walk to boost the appetite. This candle snuff fungus was growing quite happily under the stile leading into the nature reserve, and knocked both the rain dripped rose hips and the spindle berry into second and third place. I smiled today, albeit wryly, to read about Sheffield schools planting trees because they'd learned the air in their city was so toxic. But Sheffield council quite recently cut down thousands of street trees... I'm sure the two stories are entirely unconnected... I'm thankful to live in a rural environment where trees are all around and I hope we keep them... as the P3 draft Local Plan goes public the work to prevent harm to our village continues.
