Not Minding About Minding Your P's And Q's

I very nearly forgot to get a blip at all today so this one is definitely of the emergency variety.
I had a fairly quiet day (in both senses of the word) until I picked up my brother from the station and we went for our usual Friday evening pint at The Red Bull. When we got there is was absolutely packed and very noisy. The bar area is pretty small and I like a good pub atmosphere as much as the next man (or woman) but my god it was loud. I really don't understand why people that are literally standing no more than a few inches from each other need to shout at the tops of their voices. There was also quite a lot of 'effing and jeffing' going on too so it wasn't really the relaxing experience we were hoping for and we could hardly pick up what we were saying to each other (so when I came across the front of this notebook when I got home I knew it had to be my image for today). We really like it as a pub but I think we might have to give it a miss on Friday evenings.

I read a fascinating article in The Times today about bees having different sized brains according to where they live. Apparently bees have  their own metropolitan elites, with those living in cities having bigger brains to help them adjust to the challenges and rewards of urban life.
Only the cleverest bees appear able to take full advantage of all city living has to offer, a study has suggested. Scientists measured the bodies and brains of 335 bees from 89 species and found that city-dwelling insects had brains that were larger relative to their body size than those from rural areas.
Although urbanisation can "drastically modify the conditions where pollinators evolved", the study said, cities "offer unique ecological opportunities in the form of new nesting spots, shelter form products such as insecticide, reduced predation pressure and high food availability". Let's hear it for those city bees!
