Des and Echo
Taken from Butler & Barry where the swimmers had their Christmas Lunch. Once again I had to make my excuses and leave early to get back to class. No amount of partying makes up for missing Behavioural Studies. Agreed!
We had a most interesting lecture on ‘Conformity, Compliance and Obedience’.
We watched the Asch Experiment and discussed

Then the Milgram Experiment. (Warning this is not easy)

We had a lively class discussion on this. We talked about the fate of whistleblowers, jury selection (for compliance), the fear of being different from the group, and much more.

We then looked at the Elevator Project and discussed compliance

We then discussed ethics in psychological experimentation. Nowadays there are stricter guidelines on ethical behaviour and because of our awareness of PTSD, the Milgram Experiment could not happen today.

I spent 2 hours in the library trying to complete my assessment due tomorrow. I am really struggling with it (maybe because I have been to 3 parties in 3 days) hmmmm
I need to watch this again

It has been a really dreadful, rainy miserable day in North Wicklow. But Des is still wearing his shorts. He’s a beast of a man, is Des.
